Armistice Day Exhibition & Dance

To mark the unique falling of Armistice Day on 11th day of 11th month of 11th year ASET and 5As staged a commemorative wartime exhibition during the day and dance in the evening in Audlem Public Hall.

Exhibition

The exhibition was open to the public and local primary school classes and saw hundreds of visitors including Year 3 to Y 6 pupils from 5 local schools. Visitors saw displays of many aspects of life in Audlem and the rest of Britain during the Second World War.

We were privileged to be joined by members of the Royal British Legion (who were also commemorating their 90th anniversary).

The exhibition included:

  • WW1 and WW2 wartime memorabelia
  • WW2 Military equipment
  • Wartime photographs from the Audlem area
  • A short video drama of life in Audlem during World War 2 starring the cast of Audlem 5As amateur dramatics club.

Dance

The Trent River Big Band had us boogie-woogieing the night away with dance classics from the 1940s. A capacity crowd, many in period costume were “In the Mood” for a night to remember and the band delivered !
